Hardening and tempering
Hardening is a treatment to increase hardness and strength of steel. Steel is heated until austenitized, then cooled rapidly (or quenched) in water, oil, or gas. Hardening makes steel drastically harder, but lowers toughness. Tempering equilibrates the steel for hardness and toughness that are ideal for intended use.
Normalizing and annealing
Normalizing is a heat treatment that gives uniform hardness and removes internal defects to normalize the composition. Because it enhances strength and ductility, normalizing is used widely as preprocessing for hardening and annealing, etc. Annealing softens the steel for easier mechanical processing and plastic working. It is ideal for homogenizing the composition, reducing residual stress, and improving physical properties.
Vacuum heat treatment
This treatment maintains high luminance with little surface deterioration of the treated material, and can be used for metallic molds and various metal components. Aluminum solution heat treatment
This treatment uniformly integrates the elements of aluminum alloys. It can also be considered as the preparation step for age hardening.
Integrating the added elements as much as possible requires precise temperature control. The Tohken Thermo Tech solution treatment is extremely precise at plus or minus 3 degrees, ensuring maximum mechanical properties. Items with complex cross-section shapes such as die forging and forging materials, or items made of materials with comparatively high hardenability can become disfigured or otherwise altered due to residual stress during water-cooling after the solution treatment. However, this company prevents this phenomenon by changing the temperature and composition of the cooling medium so that the cooling rate is adequately delayed.
Stainless steel solution heat treatment
Stainless steel solution heat treatment dissolves (integrates into the steel composition) carbides, etc. at a high temperature, which is then quenched to homogenize the hot composition, and brought directly to room temperature. This significantly improves the intrinsic corrosion-resistant characteristics of stainless steel.
Austempering and ADI treatment
Austempering is an isothermal heat treatment, ideal for small components such as springs, clips and retainers. Compared with normal hardening and tempering, there are many positive characteristics such as significantly higher improvement of toughness and durability, and less contortion due to hardening. It is expected to greatly improve the quality of mechanical components for automobiles, office automation equipment, etc., which are continuously becoming lighter, thinner, shorter and smaller.
